Hey how’s it going?

I’m ok. I’m really sorry to interrupt right now. I know you must be super busy.

I’m just calling because I really need your help. I need you to come home right now. Is that possible?

Everything’s fine. There’s just a situation here and I really need your help and it can’t wait. Can you come home right now?

Ok. How long do you think it will take you to get here?

Oh my god. I seriously can’t thank you enough.

I really hope I didn’t ruin your night. If you’re with people please apologize for me. It’s just an emergency. Can you call me when you get here?

Ok. Thank you. See you in a few minutes.

Battery Optimization

How to Turn Off Battery Optimization for Flare

The Flare app needs to be running in the background in order for it to have the fastest and most accurate performance to send emergency notifications. Some recent Android updates will try to optimize battery usage by preventing apps from running in the background, so it's important to make sure Flare is not optimized for battery optimization.

For help on how to do this, please follow the steps below:

Google Pixel Phones:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tapon "Apps"
  3. Tap on "Flare"
  4. Tap on "Battery"
  5. Tap on "Unrestricted"

OR

  1. Go to your phone Settings
  2. Tap on "Apps & notifications"
  3. Tap on "Advanced"
  4. Tap on "Special app access"
  5. Tap on "Battery optimization"

If app is not listed as “Not Optimized”, tap on "Not optimized" and then tap on "All Apps". Search for "Flare" and tap on it, and then tap on "Don't Optimize".

Samsung Phones:

  1. Open your phone Settings
  2. Tap on "Applications" or "Apps"
  3. Tap on the three-dot menu (top right corner)
  4. Tap on "Special Access"
  5. Tap on "Optimize Battery usage"

OR

  1. Tap on "Device maintenance"
  2. Tap on "Battery"
  3. Tap on "Battery Usage"
  4. Tap on the three-dot menu (top right corner)
  5. Tap on "Optimize Battery usage"

On the "Optimize Battery" screen, if the Flare app is not listed as “Apps Not Optimized”, tap on "Apps not optimized" and then tap on "All apps". Search for "Flare" and disable that option.

Motorola Phones:

  1. Open your phone Settings
  2. Tap "Battery"
  3. Tap the Menu icon (3 dots located in the upper-right).
  4. Tap "Battery optimization"
  5. Tap "Not optimized"
  6. Tap "All Apps"
  7. Find Flare on this list and tap on "Don’t Optimize".
  8. Go back to your phone settings*
  9. Select "Battery"*
  10. Turn Battery Saver Mode off*

LG Phones:

  1. Go to your smartphone's Settings
  2. Tap "Battery & power saving"
  3. Tap on "Battery usage"
  4. Tap "Ignore optimizations"
  5. Turn "on" to ignore battery optimization for the Flare app.

General Phones:

  1. Open up phone settings then at the top there should be a search option and type “battery”.

  2. Select “optimize battery usage” or “battery optimization”. You may need to select this option again.

  3. You should see a list of apps on the next screen, at the top of this page you should see something that says “not optimized”. Switch "Not Optimized" to “All apps” using a drop down menu.

  4. Once you do this they should see a very long list of apps in alphabetical order. Please scroll and find Flare. Once you find it please select and change setting to off or not optimized.

  5. That’s it! You should be all set, if you reopen the app again you might see the notification one more time, but you can hit cancel and then it shouldn’t pop up anymore.
