If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe and want to use your Flare bracelet, there are two subtle actions you can take to gain control and exit the situation. The first is to simply hold down the small button on your bracelet to send your friends your GPS location so they can check on you. You can also include a simultaneous alert to a trained agent who can send 911 to your location – this free and optional feature can be turned on or off anytime. The second option is to press the button once to trigger a fake call to your phone so you have an excuse to leave. Find a full "How It Works" video here.
When you receive a call or message from Flare, it will come from the same number every time. Your crew will also get your text message alerts from this number. There are 10 numbers to choose from in the app. You can change it anytime based on personal preferences or to better suit your specific phone carrier. The app will help you add these number as a contact in your phone. Give it any name you choose. This will help the phone call look and feel real - like a friend or family member is calling you.
Share your information and live GPS location with trained, on-call agents who can stay on the phone with you and contact 911 dispatchers on your behalf.
Did you know that a 911 dispatcher cannot automatically get your location if you call them from your cell phone? That's why Flare, when activated, can share your name, phone number, and GPS location with a trained operator on your behalf.
The on-call operator will text you and call you within seconds of activating your bracelet. The trained agent will stay on the line with you and you can provide more information about the situation so that they can better help you.
If you cannot answer your phone or if you need immediate help, the operator will contact the nearest 911 center and have them send local first responders to your location immediately.
You can also cancel the alarm on the phone with the operator if it was a mistake or a false alarm.

Our beta users, who first tried a rechargeable version, constantly forgot to charge their bracelet, felt guilty about not having it ready when they needed it, didn't like the bulkiness of it (looked like tech not jewelry), and frankly hated the burden of having to charge it.
We want Flare to always be discreet (looks like jewelry not tech) and ready for you when you need it. None of us need another device to worry about if it's charged or not.
