Flare Community Guidelines

This is a safe space to ask questions, share experiences, and support each other. Whether you are here to learn or teach, give support or receive it – no matter your identity, your experiences, or why you use Flare – you are welcome here. Just like the "Crew" you connect to your Flare safety bracelet, the Flare Community is always there to have your back(up).

Above all, we are empathetic and respectful.

Listen to each other. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Explore different perspectives and world-views. Be inclusive. Seek out and celebrate diversity.

Do not post or comment on anything that could be construed as unkind, trolling, or bullying. We have a zero-tolerance for hate, and you will be removed immediately for any hateful messages. Refrain from derogatory language related to a person's gender(s), sexual orientation or preference(s), physical or mental dis/ability, race, religion, and life choices. This space is one that thrives with each member’s experience, knowledge, and input. Any behavior that does not serve the members of our community will be addressed by the Community Manager.

We strive for vulnerability and authenticity.

Have the courage to open your mind and your heart. Be brave, not perfect and remember that everyone in this space can teach you something. We are each a reflection of one another in some way. Assume good intentions. Stay open – trust yourself and others.

This is a safe space where we support one another through challenging and sensitive personal experiences and celebrate each other's strength regardless of where people are in their journey. We embrace having difficult discussions and disagreement – as long as there is respect and we actively listen with open hearts and minds, without judgement or personal agendas. We are here to be real when we are sharing and learning, and we do so by hearing and seeing new perspectives through a lens of empathy and compassion.

Unity – we are stronger together.

We are united through our shared experiences and goals of learning, healing, and growing together. We believe in creating tangible positive change and that we are stronger together. Safety is a spectrum, so relationships with and perspectives on safety look different for everyone – we are here for it all. We are here to connect and we are here to celebrate each other!

This community supports survivors and other marginalized groups of people. We recognize that every individual carries intersectional identities and we are working hard to co-create a space that validates all lived experiences, diversities of bodies and expressions. We do not make assumptions based on member photos or names, and we are mindful of using correct pronouns.

We prioritize privacy and confidentiality.

As our community grows, so will the number of people who have access to its posts. We strive to maintain a space that invites vulnerability, and we ask that you also be thoughtful about what you share.

Many of these discussions are sensitive in nature, therefore all information within this space must be kept confidential unless you receive explicit permission otherwise from the original poster. Please do not take screenshots of the community.

We are here for support and growth, not solicitations.

Anything that's considered “spammy” or “promotional” will be removed. Light self-promotion is okay if what you're offering serves the community, but please do not repeatedly post this type of content. If you'd like to offer support services, resources, or host an event for the greater community, please reach out to the Community Manager.

We’re in this community to be heard, to learn, and to grow together – so if you have a resource or link to share, please run it by Team Flare. We value the privacy and intentionality of our community.

If you believe that a member is in violation of the Community Guidelines, please reach out to the Community Manager or someone on the Moderation Team.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for hate and bigotry and reserve the right to remove any content or members for violating our community guidelines at any time.

If a member is found to promote any form of hatred, violence, or harassment, or are in conflict with the Community Guidelines, they will be approached by a Flare staff member and asked to follow up with recognition of the consequences of their behavior, appropriate conciliatory actions, and clear behavioral changes. This will be the first warning. If the member fails to do any of the above, or receives a second warning, they will be removed from the community.

Our mission at Flare is to build a powerful product and collaborative community that spark the type of cultural and social change that can #PutFlareOutofBusiness
