Does Flare work with all smartphones?
At the moment, the Flare app is only available for iPhone. Our small team is working around the clock to get better safety to those who need it, including our Android users. In the meantime, you can sign up for the Android waitlist here.

Do I have to charge the bracelet's battery? What happens when it runs out?
No. To ensure that Flare is easy-to-use and always ready to activate, each bracelet comes with a battery you will never have to charge. Each bracelet's battery lasts 2-3 years. We track your battery usage automatically and let you know (via email and text) before it is time to purchase a replacement bracelet. Keep the same style or upgrade to a new one. This ensures that your bracelet is always ready-to-go because we want you to be prepared no matter what. You can never predict when you will need Flare.
Flare was developed over the course of 4 years, with extensive user research, testing, and feedback from thousands. In order to fit our tech into jewelry (that actually looks like jewelry) we had to make the batteries not rechargeable or replaceable. For our first product we knew the discretion of it looking like jewelry was vital to making the product actually effective in an unsafe moment and that is why we made this tradeoff. Our beta users, who first tried a rechargeable version, constantly forgot to charge their bracelet, felt guilty about not having it ready when they needed it, didn't like the bulkiness of it (looked like tech not jewelry), and frankly hated the burden of having to charge it. We want Flare to always be discreet, effective, and ready for you when you need it.
But we also are conscientious of the environmental impact of putting your safety first (pun intended) in this tradeoff - so while we thought it was important to get a tool for better safety out right away (because let's be honest it's about time) we are still innovating and exploring refurbishment/recycling options for used Flare bracelets. -

Do I need my phone nearby for Flare to work?
Your iPhone, with the Get Flare iOS app, needs to be within bluetooth range of the bracelet in order for the signal to go out. Our technology has been rigorously tested in many environments.
Flare works 100% of the time at a range of 10 feet between the bracelet and mobile device. If your phone is in a bag on the other side of a room or across a vehicle, for example, Flare will work. It can also work up to 30-50 ft away depending on the surroundings, including from different rooms. We recommend testing out the range in your home environment to get a feel for it yourself because bluetooth ranges vary depending on your physical surroundings and obstacles. -
What happens if I press the button by accident?
Due to the location of the button on the bracelet, it's unlikely that you would hit it by accident. That being said, if it happens, it's perfectly fine. False alarms are 100% OK! If you have enabled 911, you will have a chance to stop the alert via text or call before emergency responders are contacted. Our partner’s advanced technology, analytics, and certified agents stop more than 99% of false alarms before contacting the nearest PSAP (Public-Safety Answering Point).
If the situation works itself out, there is no harm in using Flare because it does not escalate situations and no one but you will know what’s happening. Unlike other “solutions”, Flare puts you in control and helps you get out without endangering yourself. -
Will the bracelet withstand daily use and wear?
Yes! Each bracelet style is designed for everyday wear and has been rigorously tested for durability, including drop testing, water testing, and temperature testing. Cuff bracelets squeeze to find a snug fit and beaded bracelets are closed around the entire wrist. They are intentionally designed to look like regular jewelry so that no one knows to target or grab them. We recommend that you treat it like you would any other piece of jewelry or electronics.

How long will it take to receive my order?
We typically ship out from our warehouse in 1-3 business days from purchase date, but during busy times (like the holidays) please allow up to 5-10 business days for your order to be processed and fulfilled. Once it has been packed up at our fulfillment facility, shipping typically takes 3-5 business days and is a flat rate of $5 per order.
Pre-orders will be filled in the order they were received as the product comes in from the factory. This process can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months depending on our inventory at that time. We thank you for your patience as we work to fill demand! As soon as your product is ready to be shipped, you'll receive a shipping notification with a tracking number via email.
